ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After stringing together 12 straight matches without a loss, the UCF men's soccer team has earned their highest ranking in program history as they check in at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
The new ranking of No. 6 tops UCF's previous best which was No. 7. That mark was achieved on Nov. 6, 2018. Since entering the rankings over a year ago on Oct. 9 at No. 19, the Knights have not left the top 20 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Black and Gold began the season at No. 15 in the coaches poll and have made a nine spot jump since the start of the year. In the most recent edition, the Knights have leapfrogged Wake Forest and St. Johns.
A compliment to the record ranking is UCF's RPI. The Knights currently sit at No. 4 in the NCAA men's soccer RPI. When UCF reached their previous best ranking of No. 7 in the coaches poll last year, the Knights had an RPI of 13 and wound up with the No. 14 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
TopDrawer Soccer has the Knights pegged as the No. 4 team in the nation, trailing only Washington, Georgetown and Virginia.
UCF has three matches left in the regular season before participating in the postseason. The Knights will face Stetson on Tuesday night before wrapping up their home slate against conference foe Memphis. The Black and Gold will have a chance to clinch a share of the American Athletic Conference regular season title with a win over Memphis. UCF will conclude their regular season on the road at Cincinnati, a team they beat last year to clinch the 2018 regular season conference crown.
