Oettl Wins AAC Goalkeeper of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After recording a clean sheet against the South Florida Bulls, Yannik Oettl has been named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week.

Oettl posted five saves in the win over South Florida, recording his fourth clean sheet of the season. The shutout also happened to double as Oettl's 10th career shutout and 25th career win.

So far this season, Oettl has posted a 1.16 goals allowed average with a .729 save percentage. His four shutouts this season match his four from last season, which stands his career best in a season.

This is the second time Oettl has won The American Goalkeeper of the Week. His first nomination of the season came back on Sept. 9 when he went 1-0-1 with seven saves in 217 minutes of play. He posted a 1.66 goals allowed average that week.

Freshman Jonas Schmalbach made the honor roll for his lone goal in Saturday's match against South Florida. He netted what would be the eventual game winner off an assist from Gino Vivi in the 49th minute.
