FOSHAN CITY, China (UCFKnights.com) – Former UCF men's golf standout Bobby Bai entered the record books as he finished first overall at the Foshan Open, part of the Challenge Tour, on Sunday after shooting 265(-23) in four rounds.
Bai, who was participating under his birth name of Zheng-kai Bai, shot seven under par (65) on the final day to reach 23 under par in the tournament, for a total of 265, putting him squarely in first place after the next best score was 269(-19).
With the win, Bai became the first Chinese player to win the Foshan Open and the first to win on the Challenge tour. En route to the first-place finish, Bai set a new course record in the second round when he posted a bogey-free 63(-9).
Bai is no stranger to setting records. In his time with UCF, he tied the UCF all-time 54-hole record with an even 200 last Spring at the FAU Spring Championship and he came just one stroke shy of tying the lowest 18-hole record in program history, as he shot 63 at the Jackrabbit Invitational in 2017.
Bai will next travel to Shanghai for the WGC-HSBC Champions next week.
