ORLANDO – Another day, another watch list nod for UCF's Dillon Gabriel, as the freshman was added to the Manning Award Watch List on Thursday.
The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, will release its finalists on Dec. 5, selected by a panel of national media and each of the Mannings. The winner of the award is scheduled to be announced in New Orleans on January 13.
This comes on the heels of earning a spot on the Midseason Watch List for the FWAA Freshman All-American Team on Wednesday. Gabriel has led the Knights to a 5-2 mark, as UCF gets set to take on 5-2 Temple this Saturday.
Gabriel has thrown for exactly 2,000 yards and has 17 touchdowns with just five interceptions as a true freshman. He ranks 10th in the nation for passing efficiency, 12th in passing touchdowns, 12th in passing yards per game, second in passing yards per completion, 13th in points responsible for, and eighth in yards per attempt.
The Knights return to action Saturday in Philadelphia. UCF takes on Temple at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field with coverage on ESPN2 and FM 96.9 The Game.
