Knights Set to Host Tavistock Collegiate Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The Knights return home to host the 16th annual Tavistock Collegiate Invitational from Sunday, Oct. 20-22.

The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Fla. The course is a total of 7544 yards with a par of 72.

The 15-team field features some of the top ranked programs in the nation, including No. 1 Texas, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Auburn, No. 15 LSU, No. 16 California, No. 18 Texas Tech, No. 19 Illinois, No. 22 South Carolina and No. 25 Florida.

Competing for the Knights will be Johnny Travale, Juan Delgado, Tommy Cao, Clement Charmasson and Jordan Sarhaddi.

In their last outing, UCF finished tied for fifth, finishing with a total score of 901(+25) through three rounds of play. The tournament marked the third for the Knights in the month of September, as they finished tied for third to open the year at the Island Resort Collegiate Invitational, and first overall for the second straight year at the Hartford Hawks Invitational earlier in the month.

Cao returns to the Knights after finishing tied for 40 overall in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship where he was competing for a bid to the Masters.

The Black and Gold are set to tee off Sunday morning.

THE TAVISTOCK COLLEGIATE
Recognized as the premier collegiate golf tournament in the country, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, hosted by UCF and West Virginia University, features 15 of the nation's top college golf programs.  Founded in 2003, the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational is known as college golf's major championship, played at Isleworth Golf & Country Club, on one of the most prestigious courses and communities in the world.

QUALIFYING INFORMATION

  1. Johnny Travale is exempt as a result of his tied fifth place finish at the Prairie Club Invitational. He will play in the first spot in the lineup at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
  2. Juan Delgado won the five-round qualifier with a score of +5 and will play in the second spot in the lineup for the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
  3. Tommy Cao will play in the third spot in the lineup at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational via a coaches' selection. Tommy Cao tied Jordan Sarhaddi in the five-round qualifier. The coaches' selection from the tie went to Tommy Cao for his overall record head-to-head against Sarhaddi in tournament play.
  4. Clement Charmasson will play in the fourth spot in the lineup at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational as a coaches' selection based on the quality of play throughout the fall semester,  with a specific looks at the rounds played at Isleworth. Travale and Sarhaddi both tied Charmasson in this regard. The coaches' selection went to Charmasson for his head-to-head tournament record against the two.
  5. Jordan Sarhaddi will play in the fifth spot in the lineup for the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational as a coaches' selection. Sarhaddi was the coaches' selection because he has the second best qualifying average for the fall, the fourth best tournament scoring average for the season in all events and the fourth best qualifying average at Isleworth.
