Jennings and Oettl Earn AAC Weekly Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After a week in which the Knights went 1-0-1, the American Athletic Conference has named Cal Jennings the Offensive Player of the Week and Yannik Oettl the Goalkeeper of the week.

Jennings was unstoppable this weekend as the Knights opened their 2019 home schedule against Penn State on Friday and UTRGV on Sunday. The senior found the back of the net twice against the Nittany Lions, both of his goals coming in the first half. One of the goals was on a breakaway created off a turnover from roughly 30 yards out. Jennings added one more off two beautiful assists in the third minute of Sunday's match. Jennings had four goals in a row for the Knights at one point, scoring the game winner against No. 6 North Carolina, netting the only two UCF goals against Penn State and then beginning the UTRGV match with a goal in the third minute. His streak was snapped when Andrez Hernandez scored in the fourth minute on Sunday. He was the only goal scorer for UCF over 125 minutes of match action.

Oettl made seven saves this week and had a goals allowed average of 1.66 in route to winning goalkeeper of the week. Three of those saves may have gone on Oettl's personal highlight reel as he stoned UTRGV cold with back to back saves to keep them scoreless for the time being. Oettl played all 217 minutes of UCF's two weekend games and stopped some premiere chances from the opposition. The win that Oettl collected on Sunday was the 17th of his career.

UCF had a player selected last week as the offensive player of the week as Gianluca Arcangeli scored twice off the bench in the first two matches for the Black and Gold.
