Knights To Host UCF Invitational

Cross Country Home Meet Central 6K Course Map

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team is back in action on Friday evening, hosting the UCF Cross Country Invitational.

At 6 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex, the Knights will compete in their first 6K race of the season.

"It's really important to get a 6K in before conference because mentally I think it's a lot harder," redshirt sophomore Kaitlyn Soltis said. "It's going to be really good to do it on our home course and have each other to do it with."

All five of the Black and Gold fall sports are in action on UCF's campus for Family Weekend. The cross country squad kicks off a three-event evening on Friday, leading into the men's soccer and volleyball matches.

"Racing at home on Family Weekend is really important," freshman Jamie Tomassetti said. "Just to show everyone, show our parents, what we've accomplished and what we're doing to really show our improvement."

With two top 10 finishes already under their belt, UCF's assistant coach Bryan Jackson looks for his squad to continue to improve this weekend.

"At the end of the day, I just want the women to go out there and continue to grow each race," Jackson said. "Whether that means we win this race or we get a top three finish in this race, whatever that means, I want to see growth in how we race individually and as a team."

Spectator parking will be available in Lot E6, the grass lot on the north side of Orion Blvd. Following the women's 6K race, UCF will host a men's 8K race at 6:30 p.m.
