ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men's tennis team is set to begin their fall tournament season with two tournaments this weekend. Gabriel Decamps will be participating in the Oracle ITA Masters beginning Thursday in Malibu, Calif. while the rest of the Knights will be competing in the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga.
Beginning Thursday, Decamps will compete against some of college tennis' top players. 16 players out of a field of 32 are ranked, with Decamps checking into the rankings at No. 29. Events begin at 11 a.m. ET from Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.
Back on the east coast, the rest of the Knights will compete at the Southern Intercollegiate Championship in Athens, Ga. UCF will compete with 11 other teams in the tournament, some of them among college tennis' elite programs. 2019 National Champion Texas and 2019 runner-up Wake Forest headline the group. Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Clemson, LSU, Florida, Harvard, Illinois and Tulane will be among the other teams with players represented in the tournament.
Action begins on Friday at 8:30 a.m. from the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at the University of Georgia with two rounds of doubles. A round of singles will follow in the afternoon to wrap up day one. Both doubles and singles will crown a champion on Sunday morning.
