LONG BEACH, Calif. (UCFKnights.com) – In the first of two games in California, the UCF women's soccer team (4-1-2) continued to find ways to win as they defeated Long Beach State (2-6) by a score of 2-1 to extend their unbeaten streak to six and winning streak to four matches.
The match saw it's first goal in the 65th minute as Zandy Soree took a free kick from outside of the 18-yard box and netted her fourth of the season. The senior's four goals have all come in the last three matches.
Long Beach answered quickly, with a goal from a free kick of their own in the 68th minute from Kaylee Ramirez – her first of the season.
Making her second appearance for the Knights, freshman Ellie Moreno put the Black and Gold back in the lead with 55 seconds left in the match. The Winter Park, Fla. native has now scored in two consecutive matches and has two goals on the season.
Besting the Beach
- Zandy Soree has now scored four goals in three matches and is tied with Kristen Scott for the most on the team.
- In just her second match, Ellie Moreno has found the back of the net twice.
- Redshirt freshman Caroline DeLisle nearly tied her season-high saves mark (six) against Long Beach State with five.
- In the Knights four-game win streak, they have outscored their opponents 13-2.
