Prepare For Heat at Saturday's Football Game

Saturday's home football game against Stanford is the first day game of the season for the Knights. With temperatures expected to creep up towards 90 degrees at kickoff, UCF Athletics is urging fans to be prepared for the heat and sun.

Dress for Heat/Sun
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing to reflect the heat and sunlight. Remember, #UCFansWear white on Saturday. Light/white clothing will reflect sunlight and keep heat away from your skin.

Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water, non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated fluids. Don't wait until you are in the heat to hydrate. Start hydrating with water long before you expect to be exposed to the heat, as well as during and after heat exposure.

Water Options at Spectrum Stadium
Fans can bring in empty water bottles to fill up at the water stations throughout the concourse. There are cool zone stations available throughout the stadium, as well.

Sunscreen
Wear sunscreen to protect your skin and reduce your chance of heat stress. Sunburn can actually significantly inhibit the skin's ability to shed excess heat.

Know the Signs of Heat Stress
Get help immediately if you suspect that you or someone around you is suffering from heat stress. The symptoms of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating; weakness or fatigue; cold, pale, clammy skin; irritability; dizziness; fainting and vomiting. This can quickly lead to heat stroke and a medical emergency if not treated.

Seek Medical Assistance
First responders are trained to recognize heat stress and are prepared to respond if necessary. Contact a security team member or first responder if you feel you or someone around you may be suffering from heat-related symptoms.

Umbrellas Not Permitted
As a reminder to fans, umbrellas are not permitted inside Spectrum Stadium.

Taking simple precautions with proper hydration, proper clothing choices, applying sunscreen and knowing when to get help, you can avoid heat-related issues and focus on enjoying the game.
