ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After a huge win over then No. 6 North Carolina, the UCF men's soccer team stays at No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and moves up to No. 11 in Top Drawer Soccer's top 25.
Despite the Knights remaining put in the United Soccer Coaches poll, they received significantly more points in the poll than the preseason. UCF was tabbed as the No. 15 team with 257 voter points in the preseason version of the poll. After the team's victory on Sunday, the Knights now sit with 311 points, just 24 points behind No. 14 Xavier who toppled then No. 3 Akron in their opening match.
The highest UCF has ever been ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll was No. 7 which the team achieved last season. After beginning the 2018 season unranked, the Knights cracked into the top 25 at No. 19 before ending 2019 at No. 18. The Black and Gold spent four weeks inside the top 10 and five weeks inside the top 20 during their 13-3-3 run.
Top Drawer had the Knights at No. 17 to begin the 2019 campaign. After the 2-1 victory against North Carolina, UCF jumps six spots to No. 11.
UP NEXT
The Knights will host Penn State in their home opener at the UCF Soccer Complex on Friday at 7 p.m. It will be the first of three consecutive matches at home.
