MADRID, Spain (UCFKnights.com) -- The Knights' foreign tour of Spain is off to a solid start after securing a 94-70 victory against the Madrid Generals.
Five Knights recorded double digits, led by redshirt junior Collin Smith who scored 14 points and hauled in 7 rebounds. Senior Frank Bertz added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
"It was great to see our guys play with confidence and leave it all out on the floor," head coach Johnny Dawkins said. "I thought both teams played well. We played a very good Spanish team and it was a solid first game."
Redshirt junior Ceasar DeJesus and redshirt freshman Dre Fuller Jr. both chipped in 7 points.
STRONG SHOWING BY NEWCOMERS
In his first ever collegiate game, freshman guard Darin Green Jr. came off the bench scoring 13 points and shot 5-of-7 from the field. William & Mary grad transfer and Oviedo native, Matt Milon, scored 12 points and was 2-of-3 from three point range. Additionally, Texas A&M transfer and junior guard Brandon Mahon recorded 13 points and was 5-of-6 from the field.
"It was exciting to see the new guys out there. I thought that everyone who played contributed and that's always an exciting first step," Dawkins shared.
Tonight's game featured a familiar face in former UCF men's basketball player Roberto Morentín, a 2004 graduate who currently plays for the Generals. Morentín scored 6 points.

The Knights scored 18 points in transition, versus the Generals' 9. Additionally, 59 of the 94 points scored by the Knights came from the bench.
UCF will depart Madrid early on Wednesday morning and head to Valencia, with a quick stop in Cuenca. The Knights will return to the court on Saturday evening with a match-up against the Valencia All-Stars.
