#15 UCF Ready For Final Tune Up of Preseason

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 15 UCF men’s soccer team is set for their final tune up match of the preseason as the Knights will face FIU on Saturday at 6 p.m.

UCF picked up right where they left off in their first exhibition match of the fall on Monday, defeating Eastern Florida by a score of 6-0. The Knights saw Cal Jennings pick up an early hat trick, collecting all three goals in the first half. One of those goals was off a bomb of an assist from goalkeeper Yannik Oettl. Andres Hernandez Betancur picked up a goal right in front of the net to begin the second half. Later, freshman Jonas Schmalbach netted two goals of his own late in the second half to bring UCF to a half-dozen goals on the evening.

The Knights saw every member of their incoming recruiting class take the field at some point during the match, giving them some real-time action prior to the regular season.

FIU finished last season with a record of 7-10 and a 5-3 mark in Conference-USA. The Knights were responsible for handing FIU one of those losses last season as UCF defeated FIU in Miami by a score of 3-1.

Following the final preseason tussle, the Knights will hit the road to begin their regular season, taking on No. 4 Wake Forest on Aug. 30 before travelling to play No. 6 North Carolina on Sep. 1. UCF will play their first home match on Sep. 6 as they host Penn State.
