UCF vs. Wisconsin |
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The 2019 campaign officially begins for the UCF women’s soccer team on Thursday as the Knights host Wisconsin at 6 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.
UCF looks to even the all-time record, which currently sits at 2-3-1 in favor of the Badgers. The last time the two squads met on the pitch in 2014, the Black and Gold walked away victorious with a 3-2 scoreline. Wisconsin finished their 2018 campaign at 14-4-4,
The Knights return 18 players from last season’s squad, including American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference honorees Konya Plummer and 2018 All-Rookie selection Kristen Scott. Plummer returns to UCF after competing in the Women’s World Cup with the Jamaican Women’s National Team.
Facing adversity in the preseason the Knights fell in Tuscaloosa by a score of 3-0 in its first exhibition and rallied to score twice in the last five minutes to bring the game even at three goals apiece at the final whistle. Two of UCF’s three goals came from newcomers Mallory Olsson and Cydni Turner, with the third coming from Darya Rajaee.
After the bout with Wisconsin, the Knights will host another Big Ten member in Ohio State on Aug. 28 at the UCF Soccer Complex.
