ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – A trio of Knights were honored on Monday as All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. Freshmen Alyssa Lamoureux and Elizabeth Moon and senior Anna Hack received the laurels along with 1,094 other women’s collegiate golfers around the nation.
Moon added to her impressive award haul from her rookie season. The Forrest City, Ark., native led the team with a 72.2 stroke average and notched five top-five finishes. The freshman earned medalist honors at the Florida Challenge and the Princess Anne Invitational. Moon was named the Freshman of the Year by the American Athletic Conference, All-Conference in The American and All-America Honorable Mention by Golfweek.
Lamoureux played in all 11 tournaments as a freshman. The native of Leesburg, Fla., averaged 75.2 strokes per round, including a career-low 71 at the Moon Golf Invitational. Her top finish was eighth at the Florida Challenge.
Hack was tabbed for the second straight season. The Paducah, Ky., native played in five tournaments for the Black and Gold during her swansong campaign. She averaged 75.5 strokes per round and posted a season-best finish at the Florida Challenge.
Criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.5 for the year. The student-athlete must have played in 50% of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
