ORLANDO – Highlighted by games against Miami, Oklahoma and the Wooden Legacy tournament in California, the 2019-20 UCF men’s basketball non-conference schedule will be a great challenge for the Knights in the fourth year under Johnny Dawkins’ leadership.
Coming off of the best season in program history, UCF will open things up with a pair of home games against Prairie View A&M and the previously announced contest against Miami. The season-opener is set for Saturday, Nov. 9, while the Hurricanes come to town on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
UCF will play its first of two true road games during non-conference play on Sunday, Nov. 17 when the Knights travel back to Normal, Illinois, to take on Illinois State. UCF is 2-0 all-time against the Redbirds, including 2017’s thrilling 63-62 victory in Normal in the NIT.
The Knights return home for one game on Saturday, Nov. 23, playing host to Charleston at the newly named Addition Financial Arena. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since UCF defeated the Cougars in 2016 in the semifinals of the Charleston Classic.
This holiday season gets started for the Knights outs in California at the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim. UCF opens up with Pennsylvania on Thursday, Nov. 28 and will take on either Arizona or Pepperdine in second round action. Long Beach State, Wake Forest, Providence and Charleston are also in the Wooden Legacy field, which take place Nov. 28-Dec. 1.
UCF will return home for a four-game stand at Addition Financial Arena, beginning with NJIT on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Knights will then welcome Green Bay on Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Sacred Heart on Sunday, Dec. 15, before closing out the stretch with in-state foe Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Before starting up American Athletic Conference action, the Knights will head out to Oklahoma to take on the Sooners on Saturday, Dec. 21. It will be the first-ever meeting between UCF and Oklahoma in men’s basketball.
