Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Incoming UCF men’s golf freshman, Jordan Sarhaddi won the Florida State Golf Association Boys Junior Amateur Match Play Thursday afternoon after defeating Eoin Buckelew, 5 and 4 at Mission Inn Resort and Club.
Sarhaddi was seeded fourth after posting 147 in the two-round stroke play seeding. Sarhaddi defeated Alex Whitehead in the round of 32, 6 and 4 then took down Thomas McClellan, 3 and 1.
Sarhaddi advanced to the semifinals Thursday morning where he defeated James Ballato 3 and 2 to take him to the Championship to face Buckelew.
The two were tied until the third hole when Sarhaddi won the third hole, but Buckelew was able to even it up after the fourth. Sarhaddi pulled ahead on the seventh and never looked back as he took four more holes for the win.
Sarhaddi will join the Knights in the fall. Heading into the tournament, Sarhaddi was ranked sixth in the state of Florida and holds a stroke average of under 72.
