Knights to Host Miami Nov. 12

ORLANDO – The UCF men’s basketball team will host Miami in the front end of a home-and-home series early in the 2019-20 season. The Knights and Hurricanes are scheduled for a Nov. 12 contest at Addition Financial Arena.

This will mark the first meeting between UCF and Miami on the hardwood since 2013, when the Knights won 63-58 on Nov. 21. It was UCF’s second win over the Hurricanes, trailing the all-time series against Miami, 2-7.

The Canes have played in 10 NCAA Tournaments total and have advanced to the Sweet 16 three times. Miami went 14-18 overall during the 2018-19 season, however, failing to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014-15.

UCF did play in the NCAA Tournament last year, winning its first round game over VCU and nearly upsetting Duke in second round action. The Knights had their best season in program history and look to build on that momentum in 2019-20.

Collin Smith returns to lead Johnny Dawkins’ squad after starting nearly every game in 2018-19. A pair of graduate transfers, Dazon Ingram from Alabama and Matt Milon from William & Mary, will also look to play integral roles from the guard position this season.

The game against Miami is the first non-tournament contest announced in UCF’s non-conference schedule. The Knights will play in the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim, Calif., Nov. 28-Dec. 1, opening up with Penn in round one.
