ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After leading the UCF women’s golf team to its second NCAA National Championships appearance in program history in May, head coach Emily Marron signed a contract extension that will see her guide the Knights through the 2023-24 season.
“For the last seven seasons, Emily has elevated our women’s golf team to a national level,” UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White said. “With two conference titles and five postseason appearances, Emily continues to put UCF at the forefront of college golf. Her program embodies all the qualities that our athletic department stands for – success in competition, contribution to the community and high academic standards.”
In her seventh season at the helm at UCF, Marron guided the Black and Gold to a pair of tournament victories at the Princess Anne Invitational and the Moon Golf Invitational. The Knights came in sixth place at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional to qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
UCF was bolstered by the play of freshman Elizabeth Moon. Under Marron’s tutelage, the rookie was named All-Conference in The American, The American Freshman of the Year and Golf Week All-America honorable mention.
“Danny has really raised the bar here for all of our programs, and I am thankful that he believes in me guiding our team into the future,” Marron said. “Our team reached new heights this season thanks to all of the support we receive from so many dedicated people in our department. I am proud to coach at UCF and look forward to building our program to new heights.”
The Knights have reached the postseason five out of the seven years in the Marron era. UCF captured the 2015 and 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships over the last seven seasons and won eight tournaments.
Marron’s student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom with 14 players selected as Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholars over the last six years.
The Knights are geared up for another special season in 2019-20. UCF returns its entire starting lineup, including Moon and All-Region honoree Ana Laura Collado.
