Fall, Dawkins Advance to Summer League Playoffs

ORLANDO – After a successful week in Las Vegas, former UCF stars Tacko Fall and Aubrey Dawkins will continue their summer league journey into the playoffs, beginning Saturday with the quarterfinals of the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League.

Fall has been the star of the summer for the Boston Celtics, earning ovation after ovation from the crowd every time he simply goes into the game. Once in the game he has impressed as well, highlighted by a pair of 12-point outings, including in last night’s win over Memphis, when he added eight rebounds and four blocks.

Fall vs. Memphis: 12 points | 6-for-8 | 8 rebounds | 4 blocks

Fall vs. Denver: 4 points | 2-for-4 | 4 rebounds | 1 block

Fall vs. Cleveland: 12 points | 5-for-5 | 2 rebounds | 1 block

Fall vs. Philadelphia: 6 points | 3-for-4 | 4 rebounds | 1 block

The Celtics went 4-0 and earned the number one seed for the playoffs. Fall and Boston will get started on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Celtics will take on the Grizzlies again with a chance to advance to the semifinals on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Dawkins’ performances haven’t come with the same kind of fanfare, but he has performed well this summer with the New Orleans Pelicans. The shooting guard has knocked down threes and grabbed a few rebounds from the guard position, including a nine-point night against the Wizards.

Dawkins vs. Cleveland: 3 points | 1-for-2 | 3 rebounds | 1 assist

Dawkins vs. Chicago: 5 points | 1-for-2 from 3 | 4 rebounds

Dawkins vs. Washington: 9 points | 3-for-9 | 2 rebounds

Dawkins vs. New York: 8 points | 2-for-7 from 3 | 4 rebounds

The Pelicans finished up 3-1 and are the four seed for the playoffs. Dawkins and New Orleans will play the fifth seeded Miami Heat Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. A win would put them in a potential matchup against Fall and the Celtics, Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Three other former Knights have been participating in Summer League this week and will finish up with consolation play over the next two days.

BJ Taylor and Chad Brown suited up for the Orlando Magic this week, seeing action in the final game of the regular season. The highlight of the game was when Taylor found Brown in the lane, who finished the play with the bucket. Orlando plays Chicago Saturday at 8 p.m. on NBA TV.

AJ Davis rounded out the crew, playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Davis saw action in the final regular season game, scoring eight points with three rebounds and one steal against the Detroit Pistons. Philadelphia plays Toronto Friday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

The Championship Game for the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League is scheduled for Monday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
