AUSTIN, Texas (UCFKnights.com) – The four members of UCF’s 4x1 relay squad closed out the 2019 track and field campaign with Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Thursday evening.
Shaniya Williams, Ciara Holback, Beyonce Defreitas and Loren Gallmon, the fifth 4x1 relay squad to advance to the championship in the last seven seasons, finished 14th overall with a time of 43.82.
“What a great season for these young ladies,” UCF head coach Dana Boone said. “The experience they have gained will be huge going forward. We ran our second-fastest time of the season, so I’m proud that they handled the expectation of the NCAA meet well. Job well done ladies!”
The quartet posted the best relay finish since the 2014 group who finished 11th overall and the fastest time by a Knights relay squad at the championships since 2013.
With their finish, all four will earn Second Team All-America honors. Gallmon becomes a two-time All-American, having earned second team honors as member of the 4x1 relay that finished 16th overall at the 2017 outdoor championships.
