ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Two weeks into summer league action, the UCF baseball team has settled into four leagues across the country, as the Knights hone their skills in their second season of the year.
Take a look at how the seven Knights have played over the last few weeks.
Pitcher Jack Sinclair made three starts for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League. He is 1-1 on the year with a 1.28 ERA. The righty has five strikeouts in 14 innings of work and post a pair of quality starts. Fellow Knight Zack Hunsicker came out of the bullpen four times for the Rafters. The rising sophomore earned the win on June 4 with two innings of work. The northpaw has a trio of punchouts in 6 2/3 innings this summer.
Gephry Pena opened his summer with a hot bat. The outfielder has a .310 clip at the plate in 13 games with eight RBI and one home run of the Cincinnati Steam of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. Pena started the summer with a five-game hitting streak and has reached base in 12 outings. Ben McCabe hit .219 over his first 11 games of the summer. The catcher drove in six RBI and launched one home run for the Steam.
Through 11 games with the Southern Ohio Copperheads in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, Ben Rushing hit .270 with seven RBI and one home run. The rising sophomore reached base in six of his last seven starts.
Jordan Rathbone was a late addition to the Western Nebraska Pioneers of the Expedition League. The senior has not disappointed at the plate with a .381 batting average over six games, including a trio of outings with multiple base knocks.
Connor Allen has an OPS of 1.100 through nine appearances for the Sanford River Rats of the Florida League. The redshirt sophomore has three homers on the year with five RBI and five walks. Allen even had an inning of work on the mound with one strikeout on June 7.
