ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team looks to continue its strong spring showing as the Knights head to the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship this weekend.
The three-day meet, hosted by Wichita State, will stream on the American Digital Network. Links to the live stream and live results can be found at the championship central.
The Knights open the three-day competition on Friday at 1 p.m. ET with four competitors in the hammer throw.
On the track, the 800m trials start at 7:30 p.m. The 200m and 400m hurdle trials will follow at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.
Saturday’s events begin at 4 p.m. with the triple jump, followed by the shot put at 4:30 p.m. and pole vault at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., track action opens with the 100m hurdle trials. The Knights have competitors in the trials for the 1500m (7 p.m.), 400m (7:30 p.m.) and 100m (8 p.m.) and close out the day in the 3000m steeplechase at 8:30 p.m.
The final day of action begins at 3:30 p.m. with the triple jump and discus, while the 4x100 relay squad will kick off the track events at 5:30 p.m. Finals will take place for the 1500m (5:50 p.m.), 100H (6:10 p.m.), 400m (6:30 p.m.), 100m (6:45 p.m.), 800m (7 p.m.), 400H (7:15 p.m.), 200m (7:30 p.m.) and 5000 (7:40 p.m.). The 4x400 relay closes out the weekend at 8:45 p.m.
Entering the championship, UCF holds 16 of The American’s top 10 marks in 11 events. The 4x4 relay squad turned in the fastest time in the league in its last outing, while the 4x1 squad holds the second-fastest time in the conference. Shian Hyde has the second-best 100m mark and ranks fourth on the 200m performance list. Entering her first outdoor championship, Devin D’Oliveira’s freshman-record 400m hurdle mark of 59.11 ranks second among league competitors.
