UCF Competed in Eight Top 50 Events in 2018-19

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women’s golf team proved to be one of the top teams in the country this season after fighting their way into an NCAA Regional after a strong finish, followed by a gritty finish to the Regional to punch their ticket to the National Championship.

The Knights battled all year to prepare for the postseason and according to Golfweek, UCF competed in eight of the top 50 women’s college events of the 2018-19 season.

UCF golfed in eight regular season tournaments, two single-day matches, and three postseason tournaments for a total of 13 competition days. All eight of the Black and Gold’s regular season tournaments were ranked in the top 50 events.

List of ranked events the Knights competed in:

17 UCF Challenge (Feb. 3-5)
18 Cougar Classic (Sept. 9-11)
19 Florida Gators Invitational (March 9-10)
31 Moon Golf Invitational (Feb. 18-19)
38 Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate (Sept. 17-18)
44 Brickyard Collegiate (April 8-9)
50 The Princess Anne Invitational (Oct. 5-7)

UCF won the Princess Anne Invitational (857, +17) and the Moon Golf Invitational (849, -15), with freshman Elizabeth Moon also taking first at the Princess Anne setting a new program best for 54-holes with a 203(-7).

The list was made with the help of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings (the number represents the average Sagarin ranking of the field). Note: Eight teams needed to be ranked in the tournament to qualify.

The Knights finished 22nd at their second-ever trip to the National Championship. UCF earned their way to the National Championship after qualifying at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional and shooting 8-under on the final nine holes to finish sixth in the event and punch their ticket to their second-ever National Championship.
