ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 26 doubles pair in the nation consisting of Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova are set to begin their journey in the NCAA Doubles Championships today at around 6:30 p.m. as they will face the No. 32 tandem in the nation Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva who hail from St. Mary’s.
UCF’s top doubles pair had a great season, collecting a 14-5 record at the No. 1 position. They faced seven ranked opponents this season, defeating three of them. The duo cracked into the Oracle/ITA rankings on Feb. 6 at No. 16. They continued to hang around the teens and the low twenties for the rest of the season. Zeleva and Kuznetsova began the season winning their first eight matches, one of those being over the No. 4 team in the nation.
They will match up against St. Mary’s top duo consisting of Hind Abdelouahid and Mariia Kozyreva from St. Mary’s. The two posted an 11-1 record together and have topped one ranked opponent. The duo has won 11 straight matches after losing their first match together.
