Knights Check in at #30 While Inactive

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team checks in at No. 30 in the latest release of the Oracle/ITA team rankings on Thursday.

The latest release includes updated team, singles and doubles rankings. UCF did not see match action since the American Athletic Conference championship match on April 21. Other teams have been active since the last release of the rankings on April 23. This means whatever happened to the Knights in this cycle of the rankings depended on what other teams and players accomplished.

Gabriel Decamps currently sits at No. 43 in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings. Decamps was selected as one of 64 players that will compete in the NCAA Singles Championships which take place at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus from May 20-25. Decamps has competed against some of the nation’s best already this season and will get a chance to do the same in the tournament. He is 6-7 on the season and has a win over a top-10 ranked opponent.

As for doubles, UCF’s dynamic duo of Bogdan Pavel and Trey Hilderbrand checks in at No. 18. The pair broke into the rankings on March 19 at No. 54 and quickly worked their way into the teens just under a month later. The pair checked in at No. 14 last week in the rankings. Pavel and Hilderbrand will compete in the NCAA Doubles Championships which take place during the same time frame as the singles tournament.

UP NEXT
The Knights will take on the No. 28 Florida State Seminoles in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Gainesville, Fla. The winner will face the victor of the No. 4 Florida/Florida Gulf Coast match.
