FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UCFKnights.com) – The second round of the NCAA National Championship as been postponed for the Knights due to inclement weather in the area.
No teams were able to fully finish their rounds on Saturday and the second round will resume Sunday morning as the Knights tee off at 12:06 p.m. ET.
UCF wrapped up the first round on Friday with a 321(+29) and ended the day tied with No. 11 Florida and No. 9 Florida State and is ahead Indiana, No. 23 San Jose State, No. 5 Kent State, and No. 36 Tennessee.
No teams shot under par in the opening round with the leader at 302(+10) as Texas holds the lead.
Alyssa Lamoureux paced the Knights with a 77(+4) and is tied for 27th place heading into the second round. The freshman was leading the field after the front nine making the turn at one-under.
The stroke play portion of the tournament will be shortened from 72 holes to 54 holes. All 24 teams and 12 individuals in the tournament will compete again on Monday, with the pairings for that round being determined by their 36-hole score (leaders in the afternoon wave). The stroke play portion of the championship will culminate with the individual medalist being determined following the 54 holes. The field will then be cut to the top eight teams which advance to the match play quarterfinals on Tuesday.
