Tate and Bai Selected to NCAA Regional

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – For the third consecutive year, Kyler Tate and Bobby Bai are headed to the postseason. The pair have been selected to compete in the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional as individuals due to their impressive performances this past season.

The three-day event will be held at TPC Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The duo was just named to American Athletic Conference All-Conference honors earlier on Wednesday as two of the top performers in The American.

Eighty-one teams and 45 individuals were be selected to compete at one of six regional championship sites.

Tate was with the Knights in 2017 and 2018 when the team advanced to the NCAA National Championships and will look to advance again pending an impressive showing at the Regional.

Tate earned all-conference honors for the second-consecutive season after finishing fourth overall at The American Championship. The Winter Garden, Fla., native had five top-five finishes this season with two second place finishes at the Jackrabbit Invite and FAU Spring Championship.

Tate ranks second on the team with a 71.8 scoring average after competing in all 10 team events during his senior year.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 13-15.  Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams.  The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

The six regional sites include Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington, hosted by Washington State University; Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, California, hosted by Stanford University; TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, hosted by Coastal Carolina University and Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance; University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky, hosted by the University of Louisville; University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia, hosted by the University of Georgia; and University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas, hosted by the University of Texas.

Bai has rejected the bid to the NCAA Regional and will instead turn professional and play in the Volvo China Open beginning on May 2.
