ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –The 2018-19 campaign was one for the ages. The UCF men’s basketball team earned its first berth to the NCAA Tournament since 2005 and for the first time ever won a game in the tourney, defeating VCU in the First Round before falling at the buzzer to top-seeded Duke in Second Round action.
On Tuesday evening, the group got back together to eat, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate all the personal and team achievements from the year at the program’s annual end-of-the-season banquet.
Hosted by Voice of the Knights Marc Daniels, the event included remarks from head coach Johnny Dawkins and the rest of the coaching staff, as well as a number of awards to deserving student-athletes.
The first awards of the night went to those Knights who excelled in certain statistical categories:
Free Throw Percentage: Aubrey Dawkins
Field Goal Percentage: Tacko Fall
Three-Pointers: Aubrey Dawkins
Assists: Terrell Allen
Rebounds: Tacko Fall
Scoring: BJ Taylor
Each of the team’s four captains were honored with an award for their leadership on the team this season. The captains in 2018-19 were Tacko Fall, BJ Taylor, Chad Brown and Aubrey Dawkins.
The following awards were also given out to members of the team for their performance on the court and their dedication to the team:
Managers’ Award: Anthony Caotti
Hustle Award: Frank Bertz
Coach’s Award: Chad Brown, Aubrey Dawkins
Most Improved: Dayon Griffin
Inspirational Award: Anthony Catotti
Toughness Award: Ceasar DeJesus
Best Defensive Player: Tacko Fall
MVP Award: BJ Taylor, Aubrey Dawkins, Tacko Fall
