Taylor Places 2nd in 3-Point Championship

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –To cap off his outstanding career as a Knight, UCF’s BJ Taylor competed the Final Four activities in Minneapolis, participating in two competitions at the 2019 State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship.

To start, Taylor was joined by Texas’s Dannie Williams and Missouri State’s Josh Webster to win the Applebee’s Team Shootout. Taylor knocked down his wing three-pointer to get the team to the half-court shot, where Webster hit nothing but net to give the trio the victory.

Taylor then took part in the State Farm 3-Point Shooting Championship, scoring 16 points in the first round to advance to the semifinals. He beat out South Dakota State’s Mike Daum, Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins, Washington’s David Crisp and Buffalo’s CJ Massinburg.

In the semis, Taylor won the round, totaling 20 points to earn a spot in the finals. He knocked out Houston’s Corey Davis Jr. and Wofford’s Fletcher Magee in the process.

In the end, Taylor’s run came up just short, as Loyola’s Clayton Custer outscored him 18-14 in the final round.

Taylor finished his career at UCF seventh all-time in scoring with 1,618 points and sixth in three-pointers made with 180 in his four seasons on the court. He will go down as one of the best players in Knight history.
