Week 11 Notebook

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Following a walk-off win to clinch its weekend series, the UCF baseball team will hit the road for four games this week, starting on Tuesday night against North Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

The Knights enter the week after taking two of three against Memphis over the weekend. Dallas Beaver homered twice on Friday night on the third annual Skinner Strong Knight, before the Tigers were able to even the series on Saturday. Jordan Spicer gave the Black and Gold six solid innings in the series finale to help set up rookie Jay Lyons’ walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to seal the win.

The walk-off capped a solid week in the starting lineup for Lyons. The rookie hit .412 over four games with a quartet of RBI. The Tampa native twice posted three-hit games, the first rookie to do that this season. Lyons also drew a pair of walks and a hit by pitch for a .500 on-base percentage.
