ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team continues their homestand with their final home series in American Athletic Conference play this weekend.

The Knights Houston in a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday 2 p.m. first pitch, then capping it off with a Sunday noon start.

The team will honor its seniors Brooke Barlow, Cassady Brewer, and Erin Emanuel Sunday after the conclusion of the game. Saturday will also feature 90s day.

UCF is coming off a win against Bethune-Cookman after shutting out the Wildcats to improve to 29-18 on the season. The Black and Gold enter the series with a 7-8 record in The American and sit in fifth place.

THE OPPONENT

  • Houston enters the weekend with a 32-15 overall record and an 8-6 record in the conference.
  • The Cougars are currently one game ahead of UCF in the conference standings with two more series left in the season.
  • Houston is on a six-game winning streak after sweeping UConn and taking out Memphis last weekend.
  • The Cougars lost their series with South Florida and Tulsa, the last two conference opponents the Knights have faced.
  • The Knights lead the all-time series, 21-19 after taking the series last season in Houston.
  • UCF has lost just one series to the Cougars in The American.

KNIGHT BITES

  • HONOR ROLLIN’: Cassady Brewer was named to The American Honor Roll after her stellar weekend at Tulsa. Brewer hit .600 over three games with two doubles for an .800 slugging percentage. The senior also received her first career start at third base in the series finale.
  • NO PLACE LIKE HOME: At home, UCF is 18-11 and outscoring opponents, 88-62. The Knights are also outhitting visitors, .260-.203. In the circle, the pitching staff boasts a 1.46 ERA.
  • DOUBLE OR NOTHING: UCF leads the conference in doubles per game (1.44) as they total 68 for the season. Cassady Brewer leads the team with 14.
  • CAREER KNIGHT: Breanna Vasquez had herself a career night striking out 11 Bethune-Cookman batters, surpassing her previous single-game high of 10. Vasquez allowed just two hits and zero runs in the 7-0 win.
  • THAT TOP ERA: The pitching staff continue to dominate in the circle posting a conference-best 1.85 earned run average.
