ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) –The UCF men’s basketball team has made another addition to the program, as head coach Johnny Dawkins announced the signing of Alabama graduate transfer Dazon Ingram Thursday morning.
Ingram, who earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, will be eligible to play immediately for the Knights in the 2019-20 season.
At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Ingram started 83 games for the Crimson Tide, averaging 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists over 95 games played. The Theodore, Ala., native shot 48.8 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range and 70.8 percent from the free throw line last year as a junior.
“We’re very excited to have Dazon be a part of our program,” Dawkins said. “He’s a great young man and a terrific player. Dazon has a lot of experience and will bring plenty of leadership to the team at the point guard position. We can’t wait to get him on campus as a part of the UCF Family.”
Prior to his time in Tuscaloosa, Ingram was named Mr. Basketball and Class 7A Player of the Year in the state of Alabama. He averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists per game as a senior at Theodore High School.
Ingram’s signing comes on the heels of a trio of additions a week ago in freshman Tony Johnson Jr. and junior college transfers Avery Diggs and Moses Bol. Dawkins also signed freshman Darin Green Jr. in the early signing period last November.
The Knights are coming off of the best season in program history, advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament and finishing 24-9 overall. UCF defeated VCU for its first NCAA Tournament win, before ultimately falling to top-seeded Duke at the buzzer in the Second Round.
