UCF Moves Up to Third After Second Round

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Improving two strokes from Sunday, the UCF men’s golf team finished the second round of the American Athletic Conference Championship Monday afternoon with a 289(+5). The Knights enter the final round tied for third place with a 580(+12). UCF is tied with Temple and is behind Memphis and SMU.

For the second consecutive day, Kyler Tate and Bobby Bai mirrored each other’s scores posting 71(E) each. Their two-day total is 141(-1) and both are tied for fifth overall.

Bai was off to a slow start on the front nine making the turn at three-over but came back with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine to break even.

Tommy Cao also had a strong back nine posting a pair of birdies and an eagle on 14 for a day-two score of 72(+1). Cao is three-over heading into the third round with a 145.

Colin Kresl improved his score by three strokes on Monday to record a 75(+4) for a two-day total of 153(+11), while Clement Charmasson posted a 79(+8) to bring his total to 159.

UCF is six strokes of the second-place team, SMU.

As a team, the Knights have tallied 18 birdies and 112 pars.
