TULSA, Okla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team put up strong numbers in the first game against Tulsa, but dropped the series opener, 4-2.
A four-run sixth inning for the Golden Hurricane put the home team ahead and gave UCF just one more at-bats to try to regain the lead.
Alea White was in the circle for UCF taking the loss to move to 20-10 on the season.
UCF drops to 28-15 overall and 7-6 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa improves to 29-15 and 10-3 in The American.
Things You Need to Know
- Cassady Brewer’s double in the third inning is her 13th of the season giving the Knights 63 on the season.
- Brewer finished the day 2-for-3 adding a single.
- Takiya London also put up a pair of hits in the loss with two singles and added a stolen base.
- With 51 stolen bases on the year, the Knights remain the top team in The American in stolen bases per game.
- Erin Emanuel grabbed an RBI driving in London in the fourth inning.
- Karissa Ornelas continues to have a standout freshman season grabbing a hit for the Knights Thursday evening. Ornelas has played in nine conference games and tallied six hits in those nine games.
- This is the first win for Tulsa over the Knights in five games.
- UCF totaled five hits and a walk with two errors.
- White threw all seven innings giving up four runs, five hits, while striking out three.
Scoring:
UCF: 1-0 | 2nd | After drawing a walk, reaching on a fielder’s choice, and an infield single, Testa reached on an error by the shortstop and Kendyl Lange was able to score.
UCF: 2-0 | 4th | Takiya London led off the inning with a single and stole second. Testa laid down a sacrifice bunt to move London to third and Erin Emanuel drove her home with a ball hit to second base.
TUL: 4-2 | 6th | A hit-by-pitch and a walk put a pair of runners on for Tulsa and a double to deep left field scored one and put another on third. Another double scored both runners in scoring position and a single up the middle plated another Tulsa runner.
