UCF Checks in at #25 Prior to AAC Tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The Knights went 1-0 since the last release of the rankings but check in two spots lower at No. 25 in the Oracle/ITA rankings.

The Knights rounded out their regular season with a win over their rival, the USF Bulls, who were ranked No. 45 at the time. UCF has won seventeen of their last eighteen matches, losing to only No. 12 Oklahoma State.

Valeriya Zeleva and Ksenia Kuznetsova remain ranked in both singles and doubles play. Zeleva bumps up two spots in the rankings to No. 46 in the nation despite not playing since the last ranking release. Kuznetsova scored a big win over then No. 56 Ana Roman Dominguez of USF to propel herself from No. 89 to No. 82 this week. The win came at the No. 1 position as opposed to her normal spot at No. 2.

As for doubles play, Zeleva and Kuznetsova stay put at No. 19 this week, the first time they have stayed stagnant this season. The pair hasn’t finished a match since March 24 which was a 6-1 win against Illinois. The last three matches have all been against top-90 doubles pairs.
