ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team dropped the War On I-4 series Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss at the UCF Softball Complex.
Breanna Vasquez received the start in the circle and took the loss resulting in an 8-5 overall record for the freshman on the season.
Takiya London paced the Knights offensively with a pair of hits including a double.
UCF is now 28-13 overall and 7-4 in The American.
Things You Need To Know:
- Vasquez allowed just one earned run on Saturday and gave up seven hits, two walks, and striking out six
- As a team, UCF recorded four hits with Tamesha Glover and Tera Testa adding a hit each.
- Testa started her first game of the season in center field and leads the Knights in the series with three total hits.
- London’s double makes that 62 doubles for the Knights this season, 10 more than in 2018.
- The Knights hold a 17-9 record at the UCF Softball Complex with seven home games remaining.
- South Florida extends their lead in the series to 11-15.
Scoring:
USF: 1-0 | 3rd | Bruni ripped a triple to straight-away center field with a runner on second to score first.
USF: 3-0 | T6th | The Bulls scored their second run off a throwing error from London. A single to left field scored another run.
UCF: 3-1 | B6th | Jazmine Esparza was hit by a pitch and Tera Testa moved her to second with a single through the left side. Alicia Tomberlin drew a walk to bring up London who delivered an infield single to plate Esparza.
