A Season To Remember

When Katie Abrahamson-Henderson was hired on April 1, 2016, a turnaround for the UCF women’s basketball program was anticipated – expected even.

In her first season at the helm, UCF saw a 14-victory turnaround that tied for the second-best among women’s Division I teams. Last year the team tied its most wins as a DI program with 21.

But if you had asked Coach “ABE” in August if the 2018-19 campaign would be one of the most notable seasons in program history, she wouldn’t have even considered it.

There were too many variables. Nine non-conference games away from home. Eight teams on the schedule that had made the 2018 NCAA Tournament, plus five more that competed in the WNIT. The top scorer from each of the last two seasons both graduated last year.

But they didn’t care.
