ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball squad opened the American Athletic Conference series against Wichita State with a 3-2 win over the Shockers at the UCF Softball Complex on Friday.
Alea White tossed a complete game to improve to 20-6 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
Denali Schappacher and Erin Emanuel both finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Emanuel, Brooke Barlow and Kyra Klarkowski each drove in a run for the Knights.
UCF has won 11 straight games and all seven conference games played to improve to 28-9 overall and 7-0 in The American.

- White earned her 63rd career win, moving her into sole possession of fourth all-time in program history.
- On Friday, White tossed all seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out four.
- The Knights extended their longest winning streak of the season to 11 games.
- UCF registered seven hits in the win and have had at least five hits in all seven of their league contests this season.
- Five Knights combined for UCF’s seven hits.
- In conference play, UCF is hitting .277 as a team with 27 runs scored, 12 doubles, and a .399 slugging percentage.
- The 7-0 start for UCF in conference play is the third time overall the Knights have started off this well. UCF started 7-0 in 2015 in The American and 10-0 in 2004 in the Atlantic Sun.
- The Knights are the lone undefeated team in The American, sitting at the top of the standings at 7-0.

Game One
WSU: 1-0 | T1st | Sydney McKinney doubled to left field and gave the Shockers an early lead on an RBI single up the middle from Madison Perrigan.
UCF: 2-1 | B2nd | Karissa Ornelas led off with a single through the left side. Back-to-back bunts put runners on second and third, with pinch runner Brooke Barlow tying the game on a sacrifice fly from Kyra Klarkowski. Erin Emanuel put the Knights in front with an RBI single to right field.
UCF: 4-0 | B3rd | After taking a pitch to the back, Cassady Brewer scored the winning run when Barlow smacked a ball to the wall in left center.
WSU: 3-2 | T7th | The Shockers pulled within a run late after a single, passed ball and groundout allowed the leadoff to come around and score.

The Knights continue the conference series on Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
