UCF Wraps Up Homestand With Boston College

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Softball team wraps up their homestand Wednesday evening hosting Boston College at 6 p.m. The match will be streamed live on UCFKnights.TV and live stats will also be available via statbroadcast.

The Knights head into the midweek matchup with a 12-7 record after hosting their final home tournament of the season along with a Monday battle with No. 1 Florida State. UCF went 3-1 in the tournament after taking down Toledo, Dartmouth, and LA Tech. The Black and Gold fell to the Seminoles on Sunday and Monday.

THE OPPONENT

  • Boston College has a 6-10 record on the season after picking up a win against Penn in Clearwater, Fla., Tuesday afternoon, 4-0.
  • The Eagles began the season with a four-game losing streak after facing Boise State, No.16 Texas twice, and Northwestern State.
  • In the Atlantic Coast Conference Standings, Boston College is currently 10th with a 6-10 record.
  • UCF holds the advantage over the Eagles on both offense and defense. The Knights have double the amount of two-base hits (32-16) and stolen bases (22-11), while also overpowering the Eagles in the circle with just a 2.13 earned run average compared to the Eagles’ 5.27 ERA.
  • The Knights command the series with a 5-0 record over the Eagles. The teams last met in 2014 when UCF won, 9-1.

KNIGHT BITES

  • HONOR ROLL: Jazmine Esparza and Alea White both earned honor roll accolades this week. Esparza collected a double, triple and four RBI last week, including an RBI single against No. 1 Florida State in UCF’s 2-1 loss. She went 3-for-3 against Dartmouth to open the weekend as UCF tallied three wins. White made three appearances with a pair of starts, tallying wins over Dartmouth and Louisiana Tech. She tossed 15.1 innings and struck out 16 batters while earning her 50th win over the weekend.
  • KNIGHT NATION: In Sunday’s duel with Florida State, Knight Nation showed out and recorded the second largest attendance ever at the UCF Softball Complex with 1,161 fans in attendance. In the second game, the attendance total was 844, a top-10 largest attendance.
  • HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: UCF is 10-5 at the UCF Softball Complex posting 96 hits and 51 runs while outhitting their opponents, .262-.215 and outscoring visitors, 51-34.
  • TOURNEY TIME: In their home tournaments, the Knights posted a 10-3 record. They went 2-2 in the Friends of Jaclyn Tournament, 5-0 in the Knights Classic, and 3-1 in the UCF Invitational.
  • DOUBLE OR NOTHING: Through 19 games, the Knights have compiled 32 doubles. UCF hit 52 all of last season.
