#49 UCF Ranked for First Time This Season

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF men’s tennis team has a number next to their name for the first time this season. The Knights are ranked No. 49 this week after receiving votes in the preseason.

After a rough start to the season, the Knights have put together a five match winning streak, all of which have been 4-0 sweeps. The key win on the streak was their most recent against No. 29 Miami which was the first win over a ranked opponent this season.

Gabriel Decamps continues his impressive campaign as he checks in at No. 18 in singles play. He’s 4-2 on the season at the top spot with a win over a ranked opponent. Decamps took the No. 24 player in the nation to a third set in Sunday’s College MatchDay. The two were unable to finish their match as the third set sat tied at 2-2 when the match was clinched. Decamp’s highest ranking of the season was No. 17; he’ll get a chance to surpass that mark if he does well in the three matches this week.

Alan Rubio remains in the rankings as well as he sits at No. 122. Rubio is 2-4 on the season but has played well on multiple occasions but has not been able to finish his matches before the clincher. In Sunday’s match against Miami, Rubio was on nearing match point against the No. 75 singles player in the nation when the match went final.
