Knights Remain Unbeaten In The American

GREENVILLE, N.C. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team picked up their first road game in American Athletic Conference play Friday evening against ECU with a 5-1 win.

Alea White tossed a two-hitter grabbing the win to improve to 16-6 on the season and 3-0 in The American.

Cassady Brewer and Denali Schappacher led the Knights offensively both going 3-for-4 on the evening. Brewer collected a double and a run scored, while Schappacher drove in three runs and scored one run.

The Knights improve to 24-9 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0 record.

Things You Need To Know:

  • All of UCF’s runs after the second inning came with two outs.  
  • White allowed just two hits and one earned run throwing her 19th complete game. In the win, White struck out five and walked three.
  • Tamesha Glover went 1-for-3 with one RBI, while Aubrey Johnson and Jazmine Esparza each collected singles.
  • The Knights tallied nine hits overall compared to ECU’s two.
  • Schappacher tied her single-game high with three RBI.
  • ECU falls to 1-3 in conference play and 19-15 overall.
  • UCF extends their winning streak to seven games.
  • The Knights remain atop The American standings as the lone undefeated team.

Scoring:
UCF: 1-0 | 2nd | Schappacher led off the inning with a single to right field and advanced to second off a sacrifice bunt from Esparza. Aubrey Johnson brought home Schappacher with a single up the middle.
UCF: 5-0 | T5th | Erin Emanuel reached first on a hit-by-pitch and moved over to second with the help of Kyra Klarkowski. Glover singled up the middle to plate Emanuel. Brewer followed with a single of her own and the bases were quickly loaded when Brooke Barlow drew a walk. Glover scored off a wild pitch during Barlow’s at-bat to bring up Schappacher who singled to center field bringing home Brewer and Barlow.
ECU: 5-1 | B5th | Courtney Layton homered to left field.
ECU: 5-2 | 6th | After a pair of errors from UCF, ECU singled up the middle to bring in a run.
UCF: 6-2 | 7th | Schappacher laid down a bunt to plate Klarkowski who reached on a walk.
