GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team got off to a strong start at the Pepsi Florida Relays at Percy Beard Track on Friday.
UCF’s 4x400 lineup of Devin D’Oliveira, Beyonce Defreitas, Samieryah Bradwell and Loren Gallmon turned in the fastest mark of the season at 3:42.56 in the preliminaries. The squad will race in the finals on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
The Knights also picked up a pair of top 10 finishes in the 200-meter dash invite. Ciara Holback finished seventh overall in 24.00, while Shian Hyde took ninth with a time of 24.11.
Jhane’ Carter added another top 10 finish in the hammer throw as her mark of 184-6/56.25m was the ninth-best of the afternoon.
The reigning American Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, Devin D’Oliveira, posted her second-consecutive sub-minute 400-meter hurdle performance. She won her heat in 59.85 and finished 12th overall.
The distance crew tallied a strong showing on Friday. Katie Pinnell started the group off with a personal-best performance in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:09.74. Charlotte Crook followed with a personal-best time of 4:31.55 to post a top 20 finish in the 1500-meter run. Closing out the day, Victoria Jung turned in a top 20 finish in her 3000-meter steeplechase debut, crossing the line in 11:02.75.
