ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF baseball team officially kickstarted its annual fundraising campaign for the Skinner Strong Foundation. Fundraising opens on March 27 and culminates on April 26 for Joe Skinner Knight against Memphis.
The Knights have partnered with the Skinner Strong Foundation for the third straight year to help fight pediatric cancer. Joe Skinner was a standout high school player who signed a National Letter of Intent to play for his hometown team. Sadly, Joe passed away from hypodiploid acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2016 before playing for the Knights.
His presence is still felt within the program. Dallas Beaver, Joe's childhood best friend, wears No. 38 in Skinner's honor. UCF always has a No. 38 jersey in the dugout on the road and at John Euliano Park to celebrate Joe's life and to play for him.
