White Earns Third Pitcher of the Week Honors

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – For the third time this season, UCF softball starting pitcher, Alea White, has been named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

White made two starts and three appearances last week going a perfect 3-0 picking up a win against Princeton and two wins against UConn. The junior captain tossed 18 innings and struck out just as many batters with a week-high seven on Sunday against the Huskies.

The Land O’ Lakes native finished the week with a 0.39 earned run average allowing just one earned run, eight hits, and four walks. White helped the Knights outscore their opponents 12-2 with the junior in the circle.

On the week, White kept opponents to a .133 batting average allowing just one extra-base hit assisting UCF in their series sweep over UConn.

Overall, White is 15-6 on the season with 22 appearances, 18 starts, and 15 complete games with five shutouts.

White was also named Pitcher of the Week the week of February 25 and March 11. This is the seventh time in White’s career she has earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

UCF heads into their series with ECU with a 23-9 overall record and 3-0 in The American, the only team that is unbeaten.
