ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – On Monday evening, the UCF women’s basketball team will look to continue its historic season when the NCAA Tournament Selection Show airs on ESPN at 7 p.m.
The Knights will watch the show live at Mellow Mushroom (11680 E. Colonial Drive). The event is free to the public and fans are invited to join for the announcement of the 64-team field.
UCF is 26-6 in 2018-19, setting the program record for victories in a season. The Knights reached the milestone in a 66-58 win over Cincinnati in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship, sending the Black and Gold to their first title game since the league’s inception in 2013.
The Knights have received votes in the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 every week this season and have received votes in the AP poll nine of the last 10 weeks. UCF has also been among the top 25 in the NCAA RPI for a majority of the season.
The women’s basketball team has competed in four NCAA Tournaments since joining the Division I ranks in 1984-85. Each of the four appearances has been an automatic berth, winning two Atlantic Sun Conference Tournaments (1996, 1999) and capturing the Conference USA Tournament twice (2009, 2011).
On Monday UCF will hope to hear its name called for the program’s first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.
