ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The outdoor season officially opens this weekend for the UCF track and field team as the Knights host the Black and Gold Challenge at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
The Knights will compete in a trio of field events on Friday, beginning with the pole vault at 11 a.m. UCF will also have competitors in the long jump and hammer throw at 1 p.m.

On Saturday, UCF will open the action with the discus at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., the Knights will be represented in the triple jump and 4x1 relay. The Black and Gold will have four competitors in the shot put. On the track, UCF will also compete in the 4x8 relay, 100m hurdles, 400m dash, 100m dash, 400m hurdles, 200m dash and 3000m run before closing out the meet with the 4x4 relay.
UCF welcomes 19 schools to Orlando for the two-day meet. In addition to the Knights, Alabama State, Central State, Embry-Riddle, Florida Southern, Florida Tech, Franklin & Marshall, Keiser, Marquette, NC State, Northeastern, Northern Illinois, Providence, Rhode Island, Rowan, SNHU, South Carolina, Southeastern, Tampa and UMass Amherst will all compete at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
The Black and Gold Challenge is the first of two outdoor home meets for the Knights. UCF will also host the UCF Invitational March 22-23 at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
