ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF men’s golf incoming freshman, Juan Delgado has recently qualified for a PGA Tour event in the Domincan Republic, his home country.
The Santo Domingo native will play in the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championships from March 28-31 in Punta Cana. Delgado will compete with some of the top golfers including Jim Furyk, Luke Donald, and Tony Romo.
Delgado has been qualifying once a month for the event since August in the Canita Tour in the Domincan Republic. In the final four rounds of the event, Delgado shot 75-69-68-76 to secure his spot in the PGA Tour event.
Around 132 players from around the world will be competing to share a three-million-dollar purse and accumulate points in the FEDEX cup and world ranking. This event will be seen by more than eight million people nationally and internationally.
Delgado committed to UCF in November and boasts an impressive amateur career. Delgado currently holds a Junior Golf ranking of 87 and an AJGA Rolex ranking of 80. Delgado is a XXV Campeonatos Nacionales Juveniles Medalist with rounds of 70-70-71 and finished second at the 2018 AJGA Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation Junior Championship (74-71-71).
