ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 27 UCF women’s tennis team will resume conference play on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against the SMU Mustangs at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus.

The Knights are riding an 11-match winning streak which is currently tied for the third longest in program history. UCF has been consistently dominant in singles play with four players on match winning streaks of seven or more. Sharma has won ten singles matches in a row followed by Natalia Serrano winning eight straight. Ksenia Kuznetsova and Rebeka Stolmar have each won their last seven singles matches.

The Black and Gold started the season controlling doubles play but have dropped two of their last three doubles points. During those three doubles segments, Marie Mattel and Sharma have gone 3-0, winning twice at the No. 3 slot and once at the No. 2 position. The Knights will look to bounce back in the doubles portion of the match in their lone midweek game against SMU.

UCF comes into the match with a 2-0 record in American Athletic Conference play. Starting with SMU on Wednesday, the Knights will play three consecutive conference opponents to round out their American slate. UCF has already defeated Tulsa and Tulane in the conference and are scheduled to play Wichita State and Tulsa again.

SMU currently sits at a record of 5-7 on the season. They will take on USF on Tuesday before visiting the Knights on Wednesday. The Mustangs are 2-1 in the American, beating Tulane and Houston while losing to Wichita State. The majority of SMU’s production comes from their No. 2 position, where three players have a combined record of 8-3. In doubles play, the Mustangs are 10-2 at the No. 3 spot, but a combined 8-9 at the first and second positions in the lineup.
