CLEARWATER, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF softball team wrapped up the USF Clearwater Tournament with a 6-0 win over St. John’s Sunday afternoon.
Alea White threw a one-hit shutout striking our eight batters and walking just one. With the win, White improves to 11-5 on the season.
The Knights tallied seven hits and just three strikeouts as Tamesha Glover and Cassady Brewer led the way for the Black and Gold with two hits each. Takiya London, Glover, and Savannah Julylia were credited with RBI for UCF.
UCF improves to 17-8 overall after finishing the tournament, 4-1.
Things You Need To Know:
- London collected her first home run as a Knight with a three-run shot to deep center field.
- Julylia recorded her first RBI of the season with a single up the middle and received her first start of the season on Sunday.
- On the weekend, White went 3-0 with 27 strikeouts in 19.2 innings pitched to register a 0.36 earned run average and a .121 batting average against.
- In the five games, Brewer led the way with five hits, while Kyra Klarkowski, Erin Emanuel, Denali Schappacher, and Tamesha Glover each added four.
- During the tournament, UCF scored 24 runs on 31 hits with a team batting average of .258.
- The Knights posted three shutouts of their five games on the weekend. They have eight on the season.
- With the four home runs and five doubles on the weekend, the Knights have racked up 38 doubles and seven home runs.
- Sunday was the Knights’ final neutral site games of the regular season. UCF went 6-3 in neutral site contests.
Scoring:
UCF: 1-0 | 2nd | Denali Schappacher led the inning off with a single an advance to second. With two outs, Esparza won the 12-pitch battle with a ball hit to second base, but St. John’s couldn’t handle it and Schappacher came around to score.
UCF: 2-0 | 3rd | Tamesha Glover homered to left center.
UCF: 6-0 | 6th | Glover and Cassady Brewer delivered back-to-back singles and moved into scoring position after Karissa Ornelas laid down a sacrifice bunt. Julylia singled up the middle to plate Glover. London then delivered a three0run home run to deep center field.

The Knights’ road trip continues with a midweek matchup with Florida on Wednesday at 6 p.m., in Gainesville.
